The LRC Classroom (COED 434) is a computer classroom that is available for use by instructors in the Languages and Culture Studies Department and the English Language Training Institute. The LRC Classroom is a public computing lab and when there are no classes scheduled in the LRC, any UNCC student may use the LRC Computer Classroom for accessing on-line audio and video course materials, language software, multilingual web browsing and word-processing, and printing.
Classroom Overview:
- Instructor podium with Dell Optiplex 760 PC, CD-Rom, DVD-Rom, Smart Board software, VHS, multi-region DVD player, document camera
- Two large projection screens and integrated overhead speaker system
- 36 Student PCs (Dell Optiplex 760) w/ Headsets w/ microphone at each computer
- 5 Student Macs (iMac) w/ Headsets w/ microphone at each computer
- Pay-for -print printer
LRC Computer Classroom Software:
- Standard public lab applications
- Keyboards for Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Russian
- MS Office Proofing Tools (spell check, grammar check, thesaurus) for English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish
- Audacity: sound recording and editing software
- French Grammar and Vocabulary Programs (Mac only): French Grammar Review I & II, French Tutor I & II, Portes Ouvertes, ELFE (Elementary French Exercises) I, II, & III
- Japanese Hypercard Exercises (Mac only)
- WinDVD: view Region 1 DVDs on any PC
- Wordfast: Translation Memory engine available for Microsoft Word on PC and Mac
